The Ministry has released Green Steel guidelines mostly as a response to the EU CBAM policy.

The key to highlight in India is that there are a lot of wasteful and substandard applications of steel in India. Allowing those applications to happen defeats the whole purpose of reducing planet harming emissions.
If you using iron and steel in applications like the one below then you have caused environmental degradation through mining and emissions in the production of steel. The steel you may use is ‘green steel’ but if there is no mindfulness in where and how the steel has been used then what’s the point?

That’s iron and a lot of paint used as well. Paint has a very toxic footprint.

No one will enter the footpath because the trees ahead will not allow a clear passage. 
No application of mind to not install the grills in a small section adjacent to the tree.

Thousands of meters of such grills are used across footpaths in the city since more than a decade using public money.
Sustainability is first and foremost a value, a value which requires integrity and mindfulness as the first requirements before technology and finance.
